Glass Guild Exhibit in the
“Community
Showcase”
at the Museum
of Contemporary Craft (map)
724 NW Davis Street
Portland, Oregon
June 1 – 30, 2008
Oregon
Glass Guild will participate in a special exhibit in the
“Community Showcase” at the Museum of Contemporary
Craft in Portland.
This
exhibit runs in conjunction with the International Glass Art
Society’s
2008 Conference, which will be held in Portland June 19-21.
The Museum will
be the venue for the International GAS Student Exhibition,
hosting up to 2000
attendees on Friday evening and into the following Saturday.
There will be an opening reception on June 5th as part of
the
'First Thursday' gallery walk and a special GAS Student Exhibition
on June 20th and 21st. The Museum will also participate in
the special
GAS 'Gallery Hop' on the evening of June 20th.
The
“Community Showcase” is, literally, a display
case. Encompassing a large,
lighted glass display case along one wall in the Family Room
area upstairs,
the Community Showcase is used each month to spotlight the
talents and
broad range of styles of artists represented by the area’s
many guilds; ceramics,
jewelry, fiber arts, sculpture, beadwork, wood-carving…
and, of course, glass…
are on display to educate museum-goers. Works of art displayed
in the Showcase
are generally not for sale through the museum; however, an
interested buyer
may contact the artist through the museum.
In addition to the exhibit in the
Community Showcase, OGG members will
be demonstrating various art glass techniques at the museum
and at the
block party according to the following schedule:
Saturday
6/7 - Sheri Cannon - torchwork
Saturday
6/14 - Carli Schultz Kruse – torchwork
Saturday
6/28 - Richard Glenn – interactive mosaic project
Saturday
7/5 - Cynthia Morgan – pate-de-vere
Sunday
7/13 Block party in the Park Blocks outside the MoCC
